Hi Wikitreers and fellow Civil War Project and New York members,

We have finally finished adding all the veterans of the Glorious 106th New York Regiment Company K!

The Entire Regiment of the Glorious 106th New York Vols is now completed!!!

Any collaboration in improving upon our U.S. Civil War Veterans of Company K is appreciated as many still need connecting.

If there is a veteran that was missed or not added but sourced please post message on page.

Thank you laugh

Note: This is a bit after the fact as All the men of Company K have been added as of August 30, 2023 (originally started on 26 Aug 2021); However it’s been a slow work in progress over the past few years.

I think you will find the 106th N.Y. fought in some of the toughest, bloodiest battles of the U.S. Civil War with utmost bravery!

The following is quoted from Col. Fox's account of the regiment: "Companies D and F were captured, April 29, 1863, at Fairmount, W. Va., where they defended a railroad bridge for several hours against a large force of Confederates.

Addendum: I’m always looking for ways to improve upon my completed free space pages so any good ideas please share. smiley

Let’s get these veterans connected laugh

Congratulations! You inspire me to finish the 55th Massachusetts that I have been working on for years. I think I need to set up weekly goals, then worry about connecting once I am through.

Thanks! The connecting is the hardest part but in many of the profiles for the 106th NYV they have the sources to connect but need the time and collaboration. The entire regiment is now aboard, so focus can now be to connect them further and improve upon each company of men. Keep up the good work on the 55th Massachusettslaugh

Thanks!

It’s amazing how many souls joined in just one Regt! They say the U.S. Civil War cost the lives of 2% of the male population. I wonder how many who weren’t soldiers made up a higher percentage of Americans who passed away during this savage war!

Yes, quite impressive!  I just opened the muster roll attachd to the G2G question about the youngest and it took forever to scroll through the list.

What a job, well done!
