Hi Wikitreers and fellow Civil War Project and New York members,

We have finally finished adding all the veterans of the Glorious 106th New York Regiment Company I!

Any collaboration in improving upon our U.S. Civil War Veterans of Company I is appreciated as many still need connecting.

If there is a veteran that was missed or not added but sourced please post message on page.

Thank you laugh

Note: This is a bit after the fact as All the men of Company I have been added as of August 13, 2023 (originally started on 26 Aug 2021 ); However it’s been a slow work in progress over the past few years.

I’m currently adding all the Veterans of the last and final Company K

I think you will find the 106th N.Y. fought in some of the toughest, bloodiest battles of the U.S. Civil War with utmost bravery!

The following is quoted from Col. Fox's account of the regiment: "Companies D and F were captured, April 29, 1863, at Fairmount, W. Va., where they defended a railroad bridge for several hours against a large force of Confederates.

Addendum: I’m always looking for ways to improve upon my completed free space pages so any good ideas please share. I just recently made some improvements by adding the Captains of each Company to the beginning bio header section. I think most will find helpful as a highlight of their respective Companies and commands. It’s tragic how many Captains died in battle or of diseasesmiley

One Final Thought: Wikitree is the Funnest place for Genealogy it’s really amazing!

Let’s get these veterans connected laugh

I just take my time I figure the last Company will be completed eventually. They all have a story to tell as they came before us in a time we can only read about now. I enjoy the collaboration it’s always nice to find the vets who already have a profile that are already connected and I do come across a few at times laugh

One question is the category needs connecting. Does that apply to those who are connected to the main tree or just to any one family relative? I know per civil war project page guidelines it seems to be just one other family member if that is the case then the category can be removed from most in the 106th and replaced with needs profiles created smiley

Addendum: if I had to pick my two favorite projects it’s the Civil War Project and Cemeteries. All centering around New York

Andrew, the category needs connecting is just for those soldiers who have NO connections whatsoever, if they have even one connection, then the category needs profiles created would be selected.

I'm amazed how many of the Civil War Soldiers (those that we can find family for) have parents/grandparents already on Wiki and just need to be connected to them.

Ok I’ll be updating the 106th!

Thank you for clarifying. I’ve seen others who aren’t in the 106th same issue. yes
