Greetings! I'm trying to find parents for Mary Ann "Polly" (nee Anderson/Henderson/Campbell?) Broom, b Oct 1818 GA, d 6 Aug 1908 TN. She married James Monroe Broom b1813.

Family history has her maiden name as Anderson. Two of her kids have Henderson listed as her maiden name on death certificates and one has Campbell listed as her maiden name.

Hi Susan! Welcome to WikiTree! I am Dave Draper and I am delighted to see you join our community. Here, we are passionate about building a single family tree and discovering our ancestry. I hope you find WikiTree as exciting and rewarding as I have. There is a learning curve so here is a link that might help you get started. WikiTree How To Here is How To Do IT

I went to your profile and clicked on your father!  Then I went to the TREE APPS and opened his FAN CHART!  It goes back 5 generations.   Others have been working on your family!  WoW!

I tried to find Polly's Broom's Census records, as we have a tool that finds Family Search, Find A Grave, and many other sources, however my initial tries have brickwalled!

Thanks for sharing and signing the Honor Code!  We are eager to help!wink

Hi David,

Thank you for responding. I actually have my Haulbrook line back many generations. I tried unsuccessfully to upload a gedcom file, but it is apparently too large and I'm not sure how to reduce the file.

Polly Broom is listed with her husband James Broom and children on the census records from 1850 to about 1900. There is a census or two missing. I was able to access these on Ancestry.com. Thanks for the instructions link. I'm sure it will be very helpful to me. So far I have just been wandering around the site and inputting my family manually.

Welcome aboard, Susan

To get assistance on this, edit this post and add location and surname tags. Tags with two or more words need an underscore ie United_States. All other tags should be separate. This will get the attention of members with experience in these areas.

You can also check out the project list. This list can be found under the Find drop down menu. Projects usually have lists of regional resources that may help you with your research.

Good luck with your research and enjoy your journey into the past!

Hi Peggy,

Thank you for your advice. I tried to add tags when I posted the original message, but clearly I didn't do it right. I got the message that I wasn't authorized to make new tags. I will try again.
