Have parameters changed for connecting old profiles?

Hello

I was trying to tie up some loose ends and make some connections to existing profiles. Suddenly, I am getting error messages that I am not trusted to make these connections. For example: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lautzenheiser-30 is the son of https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lautzenheiser-24.

The system is not allowing me to make this connection. I was able to make a couple of these type of connections where I was profile admin on one of the profiles, but needed to fiddle with how I performed the connection. Now, in an instance where I am not the profile admin on either of the profiles, I seem to be locked out.

Is this a new policy that we can't make connections on older profiles that we don't manage?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

I sure hope that this is just a temporary glitch.

There has been a recently reported bug where a "not on trusted list" error message wrongly appears and profiles cannot be connected. For example see this G2G question. In one case the problem had gone away by the following day. Would people who see this like to try again soon, and let us know if you then succeed?

One important thing is to double-check you are entering exactly the correct WikiTree ID.

There is a plan to improve the situation, but I don't know if it's been implemented yet.

In my case, the WikiTree ID was copied directly from the profile, so, no typo.
Thank you for all reporting this. It should be fixed now. Can anyone here confirm that it is now working as you expect?

(As happens too often, we fixed a relatively small problem and caused a bigger problem while we were in there.)

Chris
It's working for me! Thanks, Chris.
Thanks Chris. Would you like to let us know what the smaller fix was? It might soften the pain to know about the silver lining :-)
Thanks, Bobbie. :-)

Jim, it was to allow members to connect profiles using full URLs instead of just WikiTree IDs.
Great, thanks again Chris. That change will certainly make the system more flexible at responding to different user inputs.
@Chris Whitten: Hi Chris, I was able to begin to connect about 2 hours ago (that would be Wisconsin time). I have gone back and connected the ones that I was not able to several hours ago. Thank you! I posted my question in WikiTree help (rather than the Tree) and will post a note there as well.
I think Aaron Gullison is talking about the connecting event during the WIkiGames.

Update: After attempting this connection on and off all day long.... I was able to link the father and son. Thank you to whoever fixed the bug. I hope it is all good now.

The frequency of occurrence of this bug seems to have escalated dramatically in the last few hours. See also here.

And here. Also at this link.
