how do I limit my WikiTree Activity results to the UK?

I'm in the UK and am currently only interested in getting WikiTree activity results (the email feed) for UK based results. As tags are a single work and you don't appear to be able to combine tags, I can't see how to do this.

WikiTree doesn't seem to state anywhere that it is a US only database, so I'm hoping that there will be a few UK ancestors in here somewhere.

It is definitely not a US database.  Take a look at the England Project, and see how many of us there are in that project alone. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:England

Hello,

if WikiTree wants to be international it must move away from Familysearch location database and naming conventions.

Familysearch tries to simplify locations to a USA standard and tries does not recognise  each European countries have different standards, languages and with borders than have frequently moved! Poor Irish nationalists will be very upset as they are still apart of the UK! The Brits are upset because FamilySearch standard insists commonly and  accepted shorten addresses are wrong and will insist UK is a part of the address centuries before UK was even thought off!!!! Worse still it forces most users to put UK in the wrong time periods !

With regards names insisting in usíng Snr, Jnr the IV etc widely used int e USA but not outside of North America .

Please remember,  locations standards and names standards must match the contemporary used standards at any particular period in order to match up  documents, the main Familysearch reason to exist !!!!!

The scope of WikiTree is worldwide by definition, even if Northern America is obviously the most represented. There are members and projects in many countries.

That said, what would you want to limit your results to UK? Being French, with all my ancestors up to 7 generations at least from two very endogamic areas of Britanny, the main interest I see in WikiTree is all the links to/from other parts of the world.

That said, to add to Ros answer, try WikiTree+ with "United Kingdom" : https://wikitree.sdms.si/default.htm?report=srch1&Query=United+Kingdom&MaxProfiles=10000000

Click the "Get Profiles" button in the left menu. As I write, I got this answer, which seems a good beginning :

Found: 1943536 profiles for United Kingdom.

The point is if your family members have a location outside of the USA why is a long list of possible matches include countries far away from this location. e.g. My father family Harrisons born bred and died in England have a long list of potential matches in North America

Hi,

I feel your pain. I'd love functionality that enabled the exclusion of jurisdictions rather than being dependent on including the right naming terminology.

Mostly I don't use the geography search function, but scan through the match/search list and quickly ignore those with a clear geography outside my area of interest. But mostly I am looking for less prevalent surnames.

If I am using geography, I would tend to search for England (being my primary area of interest, but other nations work too) as there is more consistency in the use of England than the use of United Kingdom. It's optional in the style guide (I personally don't like or use it). So you might need to run the same search for Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland. What this wouldn't pick up is where a place name just includes the county or place without a country, nor will it pick up those without a place added.

Hope this helps.
