Summer Slam 2023 - Pro Wrestling Pop-Up Challenge

Question

Tonight is Summer Slam 2023 - WWE's biggest party of the summer! To help celebrate, the Notables Project is profiling WWE's founding family, along with 40 of professional wrestling's all-time greatest personalities.

Our goal is to make each of these profiles a shining star of WikiTree. Some are pretty close, others not so much. For ideas on what an ideal profile entails, please see the Completed Profile Checklist.

For those who prefer research over profile building, we also want to increase each of our notable wrestlers' CC7s, and of course, we want to make sure each is connected to the Big Tree.

Remember, no contribution is too small, so jump in wherever you think you'll have the most fun. Just remember to keep us posted on your accomplishments here on our G2G thread so that we can share in the joy of your accomplishments.

I built out his tree on his Dad's side and got him connected to an existing profile back in his Hellwig lineage.

So I went back and worked on his Mom's side and got him connected into the tree on her side as well.

I built out as far as I could on the Warrior's lineage.

I'm currently working on building out Curt Hennig's tree. I'd love to work on Chris Benoit's lineage but the profile is locked.

Regarding Chris Benoit's profile, due to the sensitive nature of his demise, an administrative decision was made to block his profile from public editing. However, if you are interested in working on his profile you have two options. If your primary goal is to extend his family tree and possibly connect him, you can create his parents' profiles, send me the IDs and I can attach them for you. If you are interested in actually working on his biography send me a private message and we can discuss adding you to his Trusted List.

How long does this challenge last?

This challenge is scheduled to last until the end of August. However, your question gives me the opportunity to announce that the Notables Project will be following up the challenge with the sponsorship of a permanent Professional Wrestlers Project, created, developed, and to-be-managed-by member Nikki Davis. Nikki is a huge WWE fan and has put together a fantastic site featuring all of your favorite wrestling performers. I'll be proving a link to the project page here before the end of the month.

I've been a wresting fan since my early teens and I'm now 62. Not a fan of the current WWE product but do love what AEW is doing for the business.

So, I've been working on Brian Christopher's tree today and have him connected to the tree.

Just to let y'all know, I basically did straight basic connections for the three wrestlers I've done so far. I'm doing the WikiGames later this month and will go back and add siblings, spouses, etc. If I don't get them all done then, I will get them added, I promise.

Great Lori,

Sometimes we get so focused in making connections that we neglect to add the extended family members. Connections are obviously important, but every time we add an additional family member it's one more opportunity for another disconnected family to connect into that line.

This months' Pro Wrestling challenge is moving along slowly but surely. We have 12 of our selected wrestlers connected to the Global Tree. That's great! But many more have yet to get a single relative attached to their profiles. Let's see how many of these profiles we can attach at least one family member to before the month is up.

WWE Wrestler Bray Wyatt has passed away. He was just 36 years old. No cause of death has yet been announced but it is said to have been sudden and unexpected. Another pro-wrestler gone too soon!

I added some connections for Crash Holly. Ran into two locked profiles for a couple of his ancestors. Left a message for the PM but she hasn't been active since 2011. I may have to put in a request to get them unlocked. So, taking a break on him for now.

I started working on JYD. Thank you David for leaving all the different source information for his family! Interesting family dynamic. You were correct that the Mother listed on his Find A Grave is incorrect. His mother had him when she was 16 and he carries her maiden name. I've yet to find a marriage for her. I'm continuing my research on his family and adding to his tree. I'll pick Crash back up if I need a break from JYD or when I finish his connections.

Thanks! I literally started from nothing building his tree. Lots of missing info that I'm not sure we'll find without DNA or actual birth records.

I could've kept going but I'm ready for something fresh and here I am starting with literally nothing on Boss Man as well. Hey, that's where the fun is, right?! lol

Well, I've been researching furiously on Bad News for 6 days now when I'm not working. That includes working on him yesterday during football. (sacrilege!) I haven't connected him in yet but I'm going to take a break and maybe come back in a few days with fresh eyes. In the meantime, I'm going to start on The Anvil and see how far I can get with him.

David, it's been a struggle to get to 77! As uncommon as Coage is, he's had his fair share of common names, Johnson, Williams and the like. Lots of twists and turns in his tree plus missing fathers! I ran into some of that with JYD.
