Searching for parents and ascending line of Philomene Saintonge, married to Evariste Brunet 18 nov 1890 at Paroisse St-Jean-Baptiste of Montréal, In marriage information, father Joseph Saintonge from Ste-Julie-de-Somerset and mother Emilie Lavoie.

In Quebec, note every catholic male is given the first Name Joseph by the Church at baptism, along with other first name chosen by the family. Same for Mary or Marie for catholic females.

Really looked everywhere I could to find info on Joseph (which could also be any other first name with it) and Emilie and even birth or baptism of Philomene to no avail.

Thank you in advance for all your help, kind regards,

I looked, but I wasn't able to find much about these parents either. Maybe you have this information already, but I will put it here for any interested researchers:

In her 1890 marriage record, Philomene's parents were stated as Joseph St-Onge of "Ste-Julie de Somerset, Quebec", and the deceased Emilie Lavoie (https://numerique.banq.qc.ca/patrimoine/details/52327/3902403?docref=eZeSrqzMcdVSb8PoNJ42Bw). In the 1901 census, Philomene's date of birth was 19 Mar 1870 (http://central.bac-lac.gc.ca/.redirect?app=census&id=37414543&lang=eng). She died on 21 Nov 1937 in Montreal and her date of birth was given as 27 Mar 1871 (https://www.genealogiequebec.com/Membership/LAFRANCE/acte/13068536).

I did not have any luck finding Philomene in the 1871 or 1881 census. I also did not have any luck finding other records for the couple Joseph St-Onge & Emilie Lavoie.

Thank you Valerie for looking into this, indeed these are all the informations I could find on Philomène and her parents... it's a cold case afterwards..... again thank you and kind regards,
Her dob on both would appear to be understated, as she is listed as being of age in 1890 (majority at 21 then).

well, first off, Saint-Onge / St-Onge is a very common dit name, so may not have been the original family name.  This marriage takes place in the era where people got pushed to pick one or the other between original name and dit name, the government couldn't keep track otherwise.

Sainte-Julie-de-Sommerset became Laurierville in 1997 when the 2 villages fused together.  So that is a start on finding more records for her family, Eastern townships.
