I found his emigration record, he paid 195 crowns and 25 öre for the fare. I think the ships name was "Minsk", but he could have switched along the way. He is recorded as 18 year of age at the time, which makes his birth date 1864, not 1862. Unfortunately it doesn't show which parish in Malmö he was born in or left from which was what I was hoping it would reveal.

However there is now a match in the 1880 census to a Vilhelm Hansson, blacksmith apprentice. Born 1864 in Malmö. He was residing in Roslätt in Skabersjö in 1880. Looking him up in the "husförhör" confirms his birth date to be 17 October, he is recorded as leaving the parish on 26 Apr 1882 for North America which lines up with the emigration date 4 May 1882. He moved into the parish on 6 Nov 1879 so it is likely he came straight from his parents home at a mere age of 15, there is finally an indication to where in Malmö he came from; Caroli parish.
I find him in the Caroli birth records, son of house owner and worker Per Hansson and his wife Helena Håkansson. It took me a while to dig them out in the husförhör but I finally found them. The family looks like this:
Father Per Hansson b. 18 Jan 1815 in Tolånga. Wife Helena Håkansson b. 1826 in Malmö. Son Frans Peter b. 9 Nov 1850, son Lorens August b. 1 Aug 1856, daughter Johanna Maria b. 29 Dec 1848, son Anders Peter b. 19 Feb 1859, son Carl August b. 4 Sep 1861 and little Wilhelm that was christened on 23 Oct 1864. All children are noted as born in the same place as the mother so I suspect that Helena is born in Caroli as well, census for 1880 confirms this.

There is only one Helena in the birth records that could be fit: Helena Maria, born 22 Dec 1826 to maid Botilla Lundquist (b. abt. 1806) christened 26 Dec 1826. Witnesses: Håkan Lundquist and wife, wife Anna Andersson, maid Maria Pettersson. If Håkan might be the father of Botilla it could make sense she got to use his patronym as surname. More research could be needed to confirm these details, but it's likely the right Helena. The father is no where to be found.

Per Hansson was found in Tolånga birth records, he's the son of åbo (farmer) Hans Andersson and his wife Cathrina Jönsdotter. He was born in Eggelstad Hospitals hem in Tolånga and christened on 20 Jan 1815. He was carried by Jöns Gummesson's wife Elna Pehrsdotter who both lived at the same place. The mother was 26 years old.
