Your next step is to upgrade to family member. It's free to upgrade. Then you can start adding your family branches and digging into the research. Once you have a few profiles added, come back here to the forum and post links or ID numbers so other members can help you. When you do that, be sure to add location tags for states, cities, etc. That will get the attention of members with experience in those areas.
You can also check out the project list. Projects usually have lists of regional resources that may help you with your research. The United States project has subprojects for each state. The project list can be found under the Find drop down menu.
You will find the Wikitree community friendly and helpful. There are lots of members who love to help solve a mystery.
