Hi - Are there mentors available to help navigate wiki tree?

Question

I saw something in another post answer about "ask your mentor"... so now I'm wondering are there mentors available and if so, how may I get one?!   Thank you.

Look for the mentor page under the Help drop down menu. You can choose a mentor based on their areas of expertise.

Another option is to take the Profile Improvement Project's Voyage. It is a self-directed course that will teach you how to create, research and format profiles. More info here:

Hey NEWT, Kevin here, I hate to advise so let me suggest: there are lots of you tube videos that will help navigate this site. Most questions have been asked and answered in previous G2G posts. I would also suggest to unlock your profile so others can see what you are doing and can help in editing, adding and sourcing. I am currently experiencing problems w/ email or I would have you drop a private message and answer in fuller detail. I would also suggest you to look around, see how some profiles are constructed and sourced and get comfortable adding profiles and sources. Once you start adding to tour tree, you will no doubt connect to the tree if, you haven't already. We can't tell because of your privacy level. You can always add and edit as you learn to Wiki

Hi Kevin - Thanks for the info.  I thought I had adjusted my privacy level previously, but must have missed clicking the save button at the bottom.  Hopefully it got changed this time.

I'm a "recovering" county employee and found abbreviations a fun challenge. A coworker was constantly making up new ones.   I think NEWT is kinda fun.

And hey how cool we are related?!  Are you able to tell which side of the family?

Yeah it was changed by the time I looked again. That allowed me to look at connection finder, then relationship to me. Looking at your tree, I saw Missouri for some relatives which piqued my curiosity. We connect in Colonial Virginia thru a marriage. My guess is your family, like mine, came thru N Carolina and Kentuckey. As you fill in (flesh out) your tree I suspect we will connect again and will be closer than 9c2r. At the bottom of a profile, you will see in bold letters, your connection, click on that and it will show how you are connected to someone else. There are several friendly faces in the crowd that are happy to help. Enjoy!
