WikiTree fun

This morning I answered a "New Member" post.

I looked at his profile and discovered he had made 14 contributions, all one line and all UK, farthest back 1820s.

He and I are already connected (30 degrees). My most recent ancestor in the UK likely left in the late 1700s.

Proves one big tree, doesn't it?

Using the connection finder to explore the tree branches is indeed fun. I checked our connection and it travels through the family of Daniel Boone, which is a meandering journey from my end, but you appear to be very closely linked to them.

I love the connection finder, even if its a sidewinder of a road! I was astounded at the notorious characters that I cross paths with...Admiral Bligh of the Bounty and Benedict Arnold for a start. And one relative who maintained a criminal lifestyle, squandered away the English estate of Trefreock that his family inherited, and was hanged for his crimes at the Marble Arch in London, England.

And that my friends is why I don't own a mercedes!

Pirates and Kings...and mostly on my mother's side. My mom always said her family came from royalty. We thought it was a joke till we proved it here on Wikitree!  Sadly my fathers line ends in an undefeated (so far) brick wall in Ontario in 1862.

Family connections to the past are so interesting.

Both my parents have long lines in North America. One line landed NY and north, became professionals (and snobs). The other landed further down the coast and were farmers and horse traders.

I am equally likely to connect to royalty from each side! Perhaps even a little more likely on the horse trader side.

Seeing as we are distant cousins your connection to horse trading seems about right lol! laugh

Horse trading great gramps had families in two states. Easier to move horses around if you have nice places to stop.
