My ancestors

William Davies, b abt 1812, a boot & shoe worker

and Ann Howells, b abt 1810

lived in Camrose, near Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire until abt 1845 when they moved to Liverpool.

They were married 28 Mar 1833 in Camrose and had children John, James, Mary, William and Henry.

I can't get back any fiurther as they were Catholics and therefore recorded in different registers, which I can't find.

Prior to 1841, I believe they were farmers.

Very interesting story. You should post this information as a new item on G2G where more Welsh experts may see it.

To do so, click on the link above named "Ask a Question."

Be sure to add the tag "Wales."

Yes I would enjoy the opportunity to dig into our Welsh Ancestry and be a part of the project. My Grandfather was born in Montgomershire 1864. Thomas George Morris. He emigrated to New York and married my Offlay born Grandmother. I have included some of his siblings on my wiki tree. A second Welsh connection comes from my wife's side. Her Great grand father ThomasJ Jacobs was born in Neath in1866 and according to records at the local graveyard is buried in an unmaked grave next to his brother John. (Learned this during a 2014 Wales drive thru.) I Have not added any of my wife's family to the tree but hope during the next several weeks to bring them out.

Our anecdotal history is that 3 of 4 families moved from Wales to Ireland but with no indication of the date. Genealogy so far indicates 1600s. I am looking for like surname ancestors in Wales willing to do a Ydna test. Y-37 would prove the link but the BigY STR test would be best; probably R-FT34404 or FT32960. So far there are Walsh, Welsh, Floyd and Jones BigY matches from Wales but no like surnames.

My Great grandfather moved from Ireland (County Down) to NZ in 1862 and a few more some time later. I have joined the FTDNA Wales project but don’t have sufficient genealogy knowledge to contribute to this team.

Ancestry has estimated my ethnicity as 9% Welsh. Until recently I had been unable to find any ancestors from Wales. I now have the surnames Davis, Lloyd and Hanmer among my direct ancestors, all from Wales. I am interested in learning more.

Our family history on my paternal side - Thornton/Donaldson with the Thornton side originating in the Welsh area ...  I have been doing Ancestry and genealogy research for 20+ years and find it fascinating! I have been able to go back to almost the 1600's on the Donaldson side (my dad's mom) but am hitting some roadblocks on the Thornton side (Welsh) .. I can go back three generations but it gets sketchy ... I want to explore this side of my dad's paternal side in more depth and hopefully find the records and reasons what brought them over to Canada in the first place.

I have ancestors from Wales and currently working on profiles to add to WikiTree. They came out to Australia when gold was discovered to make their fortune. Never hit the mother lode but done well and had plenty of children to carry on the name.

My grandfather came from Wales but didn't talk about it.  He left Wales after a row with his father, still talked about in Wales.  After my aunt passed away my father gave me a bunch of papers she had including correspondence with her aunt in Wales, and pictures of the family on Cwm Farm in  Shirenewton, Chepstow.  I began researching.  A friend went to London for Christmas one year and not having any UK ancestors she went to Kew and researched for me, finding that my grandfather was baptized the son of Thomas Harper and Elizabeth Morgan and that the couple had 19 children baptized.  All this was before the internet!  I then spent many hours at the Family History Center in Silverdale, WA, and then headed to Salt Lake City.  I've gotten a lot of research done and have traced my family quite a way back in Wales.  I do need help with the Morgan research and a few others.  I've put a lot of my research on my tree in WikiTree but have more to do.  I would like to join the Wales Project and believe I have all the required qualifications.

I’m interested in joining the Wales Project. My maternal grandmothers fathers family (Burns, Francis) lived in and around the general region of Swansea Glamorgan. My interest is to improve my understanding of where they came from and the lives they led. Many thanks. Rob

Wales Projects - where are they defined - objectives, progress, contacts?  Browsed the Wales Project page - perhaps I missed the link?
by Phil Phillips G2G6 Mach 1 (15.7k points)
Click on the names of the teams which are links. For example, County Teams. That will open a page listing the counties the project uses. Click on a county name to see a page with specific activities.

I am the contact if you wish to become a member of the project.

My GGgrandfather was born in South Pembrokeshire, Wales and was indentured to a contractor in about 1826 for 7 years to rebuild a castle. He then came to the United States and became influential in the Milwaukee area. I know very little history of my Welsh family in the homeland. My DNA shows I am 12% Welsh.

Hi Stuart, thanks for Link, I am new to WT last month, but living near the National Library in Aberystwyth. Have done family research since 1984, when it was in libraries on film reels and musty Poll Books. Born in Barry, and would like to join the Glamorgan/Barry Team - have some original copies of documents relating to local Council 1939-55, and family in the area from about 1890 to now.  (rather fewer now, perhaps). Also interested in the princes of Wales in early centuries, but not linked back prior to 1800 in Wales, so far yet.

Howdy, y'all. As a scion of the U.S. Deep South, I have always thought of the story of Wales vs. England as the story of David and Goliath, but with Goliath winning. Now, with the help of AncestryDNA and WikiTree, I've untangled the knots of my family roots (or branches?) back eight generations to Owen Griffith, born in 1624 in Lynn, Caernarvonshire, Wales. I would like to learn more about him, his family, and his times. Any help would be appreciated greatly. Thanks!

I have Welsh ancestry, and though I've never been there, I kind of just adore Wales. From what I've seen on tv, it seems a lot like where I'm from.  I love the accent, the dragon, the actors, and the countryside.  Excited to learn more about Wales.
