Arthur Jones here, 75 yo. Just introducing myself - if anything here is something you can help with, Great - if not- maybe next time. Working on my tree. Traced JONES back to John Jones, transported for "Bad Notes". Can't find anything on him in England except he way have been from Berwick upon Tweed.  Also Pierce Collitts, (Irish) transported for receiving stolen goods - built "Collitts Inn" at Mt. York. Also interested in SEWART, SWAINSON, PORTER (Of Weary Hall, Lowholm & Eskdale in Cumberland), RIDDLE, SMEATON, & a whole lot of others.,

It's a brave man who tries to research genealogy with a name like Jones. Don't ask me how I know (one of my ancestors was a Smith).

I have a few people from Berwick,  Surnames: Grieve and Young.

I had a little bit of trouble till I realised the border changed in history sometimes, England, Sometimes Scotland.  (Correct me if I am wrong)

So do not forget to look up records from Scotland People.
