Just now a Catherine managed to connect son Jacob BUT Edward still won't go

To edit relationships on Bogardus-141 please see Help:Project Protection. Thank you!

I just returned home and found Beryl's request. I have begun going through the Halstead-299 family group. I plan to add primary sources and do a general clean up. Yes, the problem has been with Bogardus-114|Phoebe Borgardus.

Please give me a chance to clean this up with proper citations.

Victoria

Have you tried to make these connections? None of these profiles is project-protected. I cannot.see any reason why you would be prevented from making the connections.  Please try them again.

These won't go thru for me and Vitoria one of the pms can not do the linkage either.  I asked her re Jacob.  Edward is a new find waiting to be linked.

This is the sort of response I get:  To edit relationships on Bogardus-141 please see Help:Project Protection. Thank you!  and I was trying to add the child to Thomas Halstead.

I see that Victoria English, who is a profile manager for all of these profiles, has gotten the mistaken notion that she is not allowed to make connections between the profiles because the New Netherland project is a co-manager on Halstead-299. This is a serious misconception of the role of  the project as a profile manager, at least as it applies to the New Netherland project.

The project protection on the profile for the mother, Bogardus-141, should not affect the ability to make connections to her husband, whose profile is not protected. If it is affecting your ability to make connections, it is probably related to the queries in the Add Person dialogue that ask us to identify the other parent and indicate whether that parent was married to the parent we are adding. If so, that's a bug, in my opinion.

I see that another member (not a Project Leader) has successfully connected Jacob Halstead to the profile for the father.  Jacob's profile was already connected to the Phoebe Bogardus profile.

Please see what happens if you try to connect Edward and Thomas without also identifying the mother. I would like to be able to report this as a bug, with as much information as possible about what is happening.

OK, so, I got Edward linked to his father Thomas BUT now I can't link him to his mother Phoebe

To edit relationships on this profile please see Help:Project Protection. Thank you!

Thanks for doing that testing. :-) I have now connected Phoebe and Edward. When the two parents of a person are already shown as married, and one of the parents is PPP, the PPP setting should not prevent the child from being connected to the non-PPP parent.

As for your not being able to connect Phoebe and Edward, that's one of kinds of edits that PPP is designed to restrict. Family member connections to PPP profiles can only be edited by a Project Leader, Project Coordinator, or a Profile Manager of the PPP profile. I do wish that more members would request profile manager status on the profiles of the New Netherland ancestors (PPP or not) who they are researching.
