I am requesting a category for the 2nd Battalion of Berks County, Pennsylvania Militia during the American Revolution.  Not sure if it makes a difference, but this would be for the 2nd Battalion of the Rifle Regiment.

It was Capt. Henry Christ's company, under Col. Samuel Miles, so maybe 13th Pennsylvania Regiment.  My link above will take you to the Muster rolls.

It appears to have been originally the Pennsylvania Rifle Regiment  - or Miles' Regiment - until merged with the Pennsylvania State Battalion of Musketry to become the 13th Pennsylvania.

There is a category for the 13th Pennsylvania:

I thought I read somewhere that there was an effort to keep categories at the regimental level.

I think that I have found the correct category, but it looks as though our two subcategories of Pennsylvania Battalions were merged into the 13th Pennsylvania?

The Rifle Regiment is currently categorized under "Category: Miles' Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia, American Revolution." That is the category you should use for a person who served in the 2nd Battalion of the Rifle Regiment.

2nd Battalion, Berks County Militia is a different regiment, and probably not the one you want to use. (No category currently exists for 2nd Battalion, Berks County Militia, but we could create one, given a profile that needs it.)
