Hello I need help from  a Palatine Project member  or anyone  My profile I am talking about is   Matthias-161 my 6th great grandmother  Her father Matthias-171    I had her mother Anna Barbara Schmid    as her mother  profiles were 2017.    A member deleted  Anna  as her mother.   I know Jacob needs source but I made the mistake of not following up and placing the source on him other then  his daughter.  That is understandable. My fault there  I own that .  Question I thought it was a rule to NEVER remove other peoples  profiles. As you can see the other person left research note. Which i followed up on the profile  Of my sources. Before    that person deleted  my profile.  I thought  we was suppoise to  email  the PM and have a conversation  before  anything got deleted?    The profile is in a  Project.   I do however  see  someone else along with the person agreed with her to delete it.  You can use  that  I placed the sources  on the daughters profile and not his.  I get it  True.  But , I am confussed on the rules about removing a  someone elses profiles. Also  if they are in a project.      I thought you made  seperate profiles for  your profiles  like say  daughter then  make a profile   for her mother and if it comes up on merge list you check it over confirm or not .. Never delete someone else profiles??     Also    names could get confused   same name but different people.
closed with the note: figured out two different  people . but thank you all for helping

Update    went through all my files I have  name of   Anna is correct . Her Anna and my Anna are different people.   I did not have her parents on Anna`s so  I can see how  she thought this No source.  But Rules are Rules when it comes to WT   WE all have  to much riding on each profiles  .  It make take a few days to get back to a person if  you message them or leave comment.  We are wheel and a slight knick can cause it to go off balance.
Cleaning  up the profile so this not happen again

Profiles are never deleted that I know of, but the person may have been detached (relationship removed), and possibly merged with another person of the same name.

Maybe you should edit your question to include tags such as Palatine Project to make sure they see it.

For clarification, the profile was not deleted, the connection was removed. "Delete" is a scary word on WikiTree :)

A couple notes:

  1. Yes, there should be communication with the Project/PM's before removing relationships like this. Help:Communication Before Editing.
  2. Connections do not need to be removed when there is uncertainty. We have the Uncertain status indicators that can help with this, and those indicators can be of huge importance to encourage collaboration and work through research.
I would suggest adding back the connection, and providing whatever sources (or research notes) you can to all involved profiles.

Thank you just updated the word delete to removed. Updated   her profile with  sources so this will not happen again for catharina`s mother.

If it was my family tree with ancestors going back that far, I would be happy that a project is working and doing research on them because I would want my tree to be genealogically accurate. Sometimes we have the wrong ancestors up there with no verification or genealogical proof. It's exciting when they can find proof and set up the right profiles, connect them. For your case, I hope this will be good news for your family tree.smiley

It doesn't appear that the member removing the connections was a member of any project.
Your right Maggie   I am so happy when I am corrected  if need be. I would never want to give uncorrect info  this is WAY TO IMPORTANT . it does not only effect my line but everyone else  here too.

The profile in question was not deleted but rather removed as a connection. Two possible reasons would be a member was confused while trying to edit or found a new source that disproved the previous source indicating the relationship. if you believe this has been done in error, contact the PM or the Project and cite your sources. I have found conflicting sources because they were not primary sources. You can also post a comment on the profile as an invitation for others to review the connection. From a genealogy perspective, it is better to not have a 6th gr grandma than the wrong gr grandma as it effects millions of genealogist in the end.

The profile of Jacob Matthias  shows a marriage to Anna Barbara Schmid in 1710 in Wilferdingen.

The profile of Anna Barbara Schmid who was previously linked his wife shows that was born in Pliezhausen in 1685, married Jacob Marsteller there in 1705 and died there in 1751 as Anna Barbara wife of Jacob Marsteller.

Anna can't have married Jacob Matthias when she was already married to Jacob Marsteller, so there must have been two women called Anna Barbara Schmid in these two towns which are about 90 km apart.

At some point the two Annas have been conflated. Separating Anna of Pliezhausen from Jacob Matthias of Wilferdingen is the first step in sorting that out. Next is to add a new Anna Barbara Schmid as wife of Jacob Matthias.
