I am also actively researching Captain John Harkrader's granddaughter, Elizabeth Harkrader Loy.  Specifically, I am trying to confirm that her father, John Jacob Harkrader, is the same John Jacob Harkrader who is the son of Captain John Harkrader.  I would appreciate anything you have found since you posted this question.  I have her marriage record to John Loy, but it does not list their parents.  I am sending an inquiry to the Madison County Indiana Health Department today for a genealogy death search.  This is my husband's line; he is also descended from Hartzells, so you and he are from the same family.

None of the Harkraders had four wives.  However - all of the sons of Capt. John Harkrader (Wytheville Va) were named John - John Daniel, John Benjamin, John Joseph, John Jacob and more - and some chose to go by the name of simply "John".   Terrible confusion in Ancestry records.

Have you seen the book, A Collection:  Johannes Herrgeroder (1714 - ca. 1774) and Some of His Descendants by Vera Ross Boyatt?  It shows on page 53 that granddaughter Elizabeth Harkrader is married to John Low (sic, a transcription error of Loy).  I can send you the relevant pages.  There are source references in the book, but I don't know if they are sufficent for your purposes.
