Of course we correct many mistakes on WikiTree by merging the incorrect profile with the correct profile.

What makes this profile rise to being retained in Disproven Existence under Susan's current erroneous name is that as a result of the transcription error, non-existent Susan now lives on other popular genealogies and their derivative family genealogies.  Especially since this is a post-1700 profile, there is a high likelihood that if by merging we simply made Susan disappear, should be re-created by well-meaning WikiTree members.

To help ensure this doesn't happen, it would be good to expand upon the discussion of the transcription error to help any reader understand what happened.  There is already a link to the correct profile of Lucian, and it might be helpful to put a parallel link back to Susan's profile on Lucian's profile, with words on Lucian's profile noting the existence of the error, and that for all we know, Susan actually never existed.

And a Disproven Existence Notice like this is always a challenge to those who love research:  "Prove us wrong!" In the next week, find and post some reliable evidence that this Susan actually existed, and you'll be a hero and Disproven Existence will not take her on!

Especially considering that this is a 19th-century era item, this is helpful for everyone considering how she was generated. I think it would be a good idea to place the information in Laura's comment in the biography section under Index Transcription Error so the details of who this non-existent person was confused with are clearly understood to add this as an additional safeguard against this happening again.
