I am looking for someone who is able to search the Banagher Parish records (held in PRONI) for a surname including variants. Hopefully someone has used a researcher that they would recommend for this type of search.

What is a PRONI researcher and where is Banagher Parish?
PRONI is the Public Record Office Northern Ireland.

Banagher Parish is located in the Limavady Registration District of County Derry, Ireland.

Robert,

I have internet access to rootsireland.ie and it inclused a great number of records for Derry.  What are the names you need researched?

Hi Eileen,

Many thanks for the offer. The surname is Canning, but there are numerous variants. They seem to include Canin, Caneen, Cunning, Cuming, Kenning, Kennen, Kennan, to name a few.

The main reason for hoping to look at the actual Parish records is that it can often be easier to determine an alternate spelling from the other information in the entry.

Simon
I have a similar problem with my Gilbane relatives from County Leitrim (the alternate name is Kilbane), so I understand why you want to just browse the actual records.  But if you should change your mind, the offer is still on the board.  Good luck.

Eileen
