Has anyone done a "surname study" of "Flack"s from Ireland?

My brick wall is my GG grandfather, William Flack, born 1 April 1810 in Bailieborough, Cavan, Ireland. I have done a Y-DNA test which suggests that my Flack family may have originally been from SW Scotland with the name "Affleck".

You can read my research so far at Click here

There are 145 Flacks recorded in WikiTree, the great majority come from the Eastern Counties of Northern Ireland. There were early Flacks recorded during the "Plantation" in the 1600s and my lot were Presbyterians. I am collecting details of as many "Flack"s and "Affleck" families as I can to see if there are any likely candidates for my ancestors. Has anyone else worked on such a project?

Ted,

I checked the link for the One Name Studies and did not find one for Flack, or anything close to that.  You can go to the link that I have listed above, and it will lead you to the One Name Studies Project.

You can follow the instructions to set up your own study for Flack or Affleck.

Good luck on your search.

Thank you, Susan, for selecting my answer!

Thanks Cheryl. I have come across several Flack families who turned out to be not closely related during many years of researching my Flack line and it would be a shame if the details I have found were not preserved for others.

It appears that there are two groups of Flacks in the UK - those that come from East Anglia in England and those Flack/Afflecks that come from Northern Ireland/Scotland.  I think the US Flacks came mainly from Ireland. How do I proceed with a Surname study? Thanks. Ted
