Hi everyone the Dutch Roots templates are ready , so  you all can add these to the sourced and improved profiles !!

Hallo allemaal de Dutch Roots Project templates zijn klaar , dus jullie kunnen ze plaatsen bij de profielen die al voorzien zijn van bronnen en er verder ook goed uit zien !!

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Dutch_Roots#Sub_Projects_Templates

So just try placing them and if you have Questions we like to hear it of course G2G) , the template creates categories and categorizes all profiles as well, the main ones already are created, so by adding the template you can find the profiles here:

Dus probeer ze maar uit door er wat te plaatsen and als jullie vragen hebben willen we dat natuurlijk graag horen(G2G) de template maakt categorieën en categoriseerd alle profielen ook meteen, de hoofdcategorieën zijn al gemaakt, dus na het plaatsen van de templates kun je hier de profielen vinden:

 http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Nederlanders_1700-1811

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Nederlanders_na_1811

and for more info about categorizing (How to) /en voor meer info over het categoriseren (Hoe het werkt/moet) see: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Categorization

Noticed some profiles were added that already were/are part  and or project protected by another project, so just in case, if and when profiles already are part of any other project they don't need/ get the Dutch Roots Template without discussing or asking this first in G2G and if you're not sure just ask :)

Yes really great , lots of them and the template project has done a great job, it will add all proper categories as well and can easely be adjusted if we ever decide to split for example the after-1811 sub project up in smaller time frames etc etc . So we wont have to replace thousands of templates if we decide to do so. yes

I really like the birth year switch feature. That is so cool.

I would like to see the template page categorized as

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Dutch_Roots_Project

so that it will appear with it's clear instructions on the main project category for easy reference.

Also, is there a rule that a profile must have a PPP before the template is used? Or is that PPP optional? For instance, in New Netherland, we allow he use of {{New Netherland Settler}} template, even if there is not a PPP.

I am thinking that as a general guideline, the template should be free to use for any descendant after 1811.

But all pre-1700 profiles should wait for the PPP, since the PPP is proof that the profile has been researched and approved, with the proper LNAB.

The 1700 - 1811 area might be a little more flexible. But we should spell out some clear guidelines for when to use the template, and when to wait, on sub-project page.

Not officially a member of the project, but I'll throw in my two cents:

1. I'll edit the template page to add the category

2. Templates almost always precede PPP status.

3. I would suggest that any profile that has sources from the project's acceptable source list (and can therefore by discussed, debated, improved, confirmed or corrected) should have the template rather than waiting until the research is at some version of 'complete' - getting the template on to a profile means it is visible in the categories and may save some duplication of effort as well as helping to 'catch' duplicates before they are created.

4. I entirely agree that there is a much higher bar for the amount of research complete and the consensus that details are generally accurate before a profile should be assigned PPP. In addition my opinon is that PPP is never a absolute requirement - it is really only vital for profiles where lots of errors and misinformation already exist and are likely to keep resurfacing : most often famous people - although it certainly happens with 'ordinary' people too.

Thanks Steven and Rob  :)

Guess what Steven means is , we have (almost) all Pre-1700 profiles collected here  http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Project_Collateral-Prospect  already, this way we all can find them , do research and add sources and/or improve these profiles and of course make sure they are really profiles /people with Dutch Roots , so I tend to agree with Steven , especially for the pre-1700 profiles we should only add the templates to sourced and improved profiles, don't expect the great amounts of duplicates the NNS project has to deal with ,but they do need to be sourced and with proven Dutch Roots before adding the template for sure. This is also what we agreed on already :

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Dutch_Roots#To-Do_or_Task_List

I'll keep an eye on the lists and will remove the template from unsourced Pre-1700 profiles and add the Project collateral one to those , and add the unsourced Dutch template at possible unsourced 1700-1811 ones

I agree to #3, but would state the 'sources' requirement as:

Birth (or baptism) date and place have sources from the project's acceptable source list, and place is located in the Netherlands.

Yes I agree on that as well , so the unsourced will get the PCP template or the unsourced Dutch profiles template, so we can try and source them ...
