Maybe Two William Wind Families not One - Help please

Hi Folks, I placed a question on the Treehouse about this issue asking for help from arborists with a particular profile, that may have been a mistake and the question maybe should have been here. I have been reviewing and correcting my tree profiles, slowly but making progress. As a part of this, I discovered what seemed to be a number of children associated with a Profile that appear to have different fathers. Thats Ok, but I would appreciate someone to crosscheck my fears as it really messes with the "big tree" for the Wind/Winn's if I make changes.

This issue is with a William Wind born 1731 in Lumley, Durham. I and many others assumed this William as the father of a set of children that in this case leads to my descendant tree. In the process of checking the children, I found a second set of baptisms with an abode in Lamesley, Durham - and it seems THIS family are my ancestors not the widely assumed Lumley group!!
The problem is, although the baptisms have a father named William Wind, there is no mother noted. Not only that, but I find no baptism or marriage for this William of Lamesley.

I sought help on Rootschat and we have concluded there are two separate William Winds with different families, but can at this stage find no record of him except as father of the children.

There are children born in Lumley (Greater Lumley) or Cow Close near Lamesley, locations to the north and south of Chester Le Street, quite separate and dates seem to confirm the split. Deaths also point at two families, not one.

At this point almost everyone including Familysearch/Ancestry have assumed William Wind b1731 to be the one and only William. This is excusable due to the transcription changes of surname and reuse of fathers first names, meaning the Winn/Winds are a confusing bunch!!

This is the children abode splitup :
Family (1)
FATHER - William Wind born 1731 LUMLEY, Son of William Winde and Mary (Coxon) Winde  (LUMLEY) - Married Mary HIND 1754

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street    1751   Jane    Wind       Lumley    William

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street    1754   Elizabeth    Wind       Lumley    William

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street    1755   Martin    Wind       Lumley    William

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street    1760   Dorothy    Wind       Lumley    William

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street       1762           Mary    Wind       Lumley    William

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street    1764   Hannah    Wind       Lumley    William   Mary

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street    1768   William    Wind       Lumley    William   Mary

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street    1770   Robert    Wind       Lumley    William   Mary

 Family-2

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street    1755   Margaret    Wind       Cow Close    William

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street    1758   Thomas    Wind       Cow Close    William

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street    1761   William    Wind       Cow Close    William

Baptisms    Chester-le-Street    1767   John    Wind       Cow Close    William

I cannot find a Birth for William-2, nor a marriage. I am asking if anyone has a hint or better access to records of the Durham area to find this second William.
In an approximate Birth/Marriage date range I have found THREE William's in Durham, but the other two are unlikely as I dont find kids (yet). There are also two in North Riding, but they seem unlikely.

I have managed to put together a reasonable amout of info from my two weeks of head scratching. Please feel free to PM me if you think you can assist. I would post the results of any outcome later.

I would appreciate any assistance from the Geneology group to find ths guy!

Best regards

Hi I am answering myself as I have updated info.
I have now proven that there are TWO William Winds. There are two separate Death records, one for Lumley, one for Cow Close, Lamesley. So now that I have two Williams, I intend to create a NEW William Wind Profile and move the correct children into this one. I am still searching for  a Birth or Baptism.

NOTE - This now breaks the Winn/Wind lineages of several WTree members.

That means almost all family trees for the Winn&Wind lines on Ancestry, FamilySearch, Myheritage - and yes here are most likely wrong if they rely on a lineage that passes through William Wind, born 1731, Lumley, county Durham.

I have paid for a short term subscription to FMP, but do not have the resources to buy Ancestry to see if there are records that maybe correct there.

If anyone interested in adding to the info by searching for alternative Winds I would be most appreciative.

Regards all.
