New Project - British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories

Hello Wikitreers! I'm excited to introduce a new project set up to look after profiles for people from some of the myriad places that are classified as British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories and that were once looked after under the auspices of the UK Project, now disbanded.  There's quite a list of them and you can find them here:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:British_Crown_Dependencies_and_Overseas_Territories

We have already got a small team of wonderful volunteers who have been helping pull it together and who are happy to share their knowledge and skills; but we would love you to join us if you have ancestors who may have lived and worked in any of the BCDOTs.

At the moment, we are just taking baby steps with our Free Space Project, but who knows where we might end up?

You can contact us via the project page, via G2G on this post, or by private message.

Cheers, Elizabeth :-)

Hi Elizabeth, I have ancestors in St. Helena and would like to share this resource for: BMD's from 1680-1986:

Diocese of St. Helena, Parish Registers and Indices

Hope you can use it!

I would love to learn more about this project. As I'm decendened from Queen Victoria. Some of my recourses got removed but I have a ton of royal ancestors.

Hi Kendra,

All the information about the project is in the link in the first post. At the moment we are simply gathering resources together. Queen Victoria comes under the purvey of the England Project which is a separate Project. Cheers, Elizabeth :-)

When I get around to adding my 3xgreat uncle Joseph Thomson, I can add some who went to the Falkland Islands. At least two of his children died there. I haven't found good sources for their deaths yet.

Thanks Margaret! That would be wonderful.
I have added the first of my cousins who went to the Falkland Islands. Three more to do. I found a story for the family on the Government Archives site.

My maternal grandfather is from Bermuda and as i connect my family members i am constantly led back to early settlers like Tucker, Young, Stowe, Outerbridge and more. I'm already adding new sources. Would be nice to be able to be adding these sources as part of the Bermuda Project.

Samantha, I manage the subproject for Bermuda.  I'd be pleased to have some help.

Thanks Stu. I've added Samantha's name to the participants list on the Bermuda page. Cheers, Elizabeth :-)
