How can I unlink a person from my family tree

I have linked someone to my family tree and I now note that it may not be the person in our family.  Is there an easy way to unlink their profile?

Hello Michele,

Who are you trying to unlink? If you are unlinking someone from their parents, then go to the child's profile in edit mode, then click on "Replace/remove father" (under the father's name on the right) and click on the Remove link at the top of the page. Then do the same for the mother.

Hi Michele,

I notice you have created what appears to be a duplicate of this person, and moved one of his sons (your second great grandfather) to the new profile (Bormann-341).

Are you asking how to remove the duplicate, or do you have doubts about the original link to Bormann-44?

If your aim is to remove the duplicate - I have initiated a merge and all you need to do is approve that in the email that you would have received (or on the profile you created). The profile manager of the other profile will then need to do the actual merging of the data and biographies.

In the second case, if you have doubts about the link between the two profiles due to new information I would initially either add a comment to the profiles, or a Research Notes section in the biography.

I remember an instance in which a profile had the name and birth date of one sister and the husband of another. It was only by asking the profile manager which sister it was meant to be that the issue could be resolved.
