Need help finding any census or other data for Ashur Lee Clayton DOD January 1850, Mortality Schedule, Alabama.

I cannot trace my Clayton ancestry beyond the 1850 Mortality Schedule previously identified with help from wikitree.  Names of children born in Tennessee are not listed on the 1820 Census and I'm not sure about the 1830 and 1840 censuses.  I cannot find any Marriage/Wedding data and the children of his short life and are found in Censuses from Arkansas and Alabama.  Some offspring appear in Censuses of the same year in both Arkansas and Alabama.  They also appear on Arkansas Censuses with Known "Given" names, but Last names of Uncles (Johnson).  Can anyone tell me if the 1830 and 1840 Censuses have offspring names listed.  This may be an inappropriate and rambling question/search item, but I need help.

They do not.  The 1850 US Census was the first to list the name of each person in the household.

I was afraid that was the case.  It is just one more barrier to my getting more information concerning Ashur Lee Clayton.  The 1850 Mortality Schedule lists him as a "widower", but all collected data confirms he was married with 3 children alive and a pregnant wife at time of death in January 1850.  Thank you for the information.
