Calling all Baldocks from Kent and Sussex

Hi,

I'm trying to sort out the genealogies of the BALDOCK families centred around Tunbridge Wells in the late 1700s and early 1800s.

Unfortunately an early mistake in South Australian genealogy has propagated itself throughout the web and conflated two families:

• Thomas BALDOCK and Sarah WALKER
• Thomas BALDOCK and Sarah GOADE

The linked free space page is the start of an attempt to sort out the confusion. I have not yet added all the information I've currently found, but thought I'd advertise it's presence early. All help greatly appreciated.

My 11x paternal grandparents are Nicholas Baldock and Agnes Allen.

10x paternal grandparents are RIchard Baldock c1590 and Dorothy Steede b9 Jan 1648    

9x paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Baldock  19Jul 1614    

Elizabeth married Thomas Kingsnorth b 1617

But I guess that's not going to help you sort out the Australian issue.

Hi Sue, thanks for the info.

This is not necessarily about the families that emigrated to Australia - it's just that the Jeparit death highlighted a problem in many public Baldock trees.

I'm happy for this to result in the fully sourced and correct trees for all Baldocks we can find.

Hello Chris, perhaps not really relevant to your query, but I thought I would let you know that I have created a few Baldock profiles, including William (Baldock-542) who emigrated from Sussex,England, to N.S.W. in 1839 and whose children were christened as Baldick, the surname he himself used when emigrating.
