Problem with a merge of Whitcomb-1922 and Whitcomb-2015

I completed a merge following the Wikitree instructions for merging.  The merge was supposed to merge Whitcomb-2015 with Whitcomb-1922 leaving the profile manager of 1922 in tact.  On Whitcomb-1922 it indicates a merge has taken place, but there are still two profiles.  It did merge the auDNA for both the profiles.  It had previously been separate for each profile. How do I correct this situation?  Do I need to complete another merge?

I figured out what the problem is with the merging of these two Whitcombs, 1922 and 2015.  Reuben Whitcomb-2015 is listed as a sibling of Reuben Whitcomb-1922 and vice versa. Am I able to removed Whitcomb-2015 as a sibling of Whitcomb-1922 and 1922 of 2015?  Confused at this point. Julia Stockwell 1315
You proposed a merge of the two profiles, but it will not be completed until the other profile manager approves the request.  If there is no response, the merge can be completed after 30 days from the date it was requested.  After the 30 day wait anyone can complete the merge.
Thanks Patricia for replying. I have spoken with the original profile manager and he agreed since when I merged the two, he would remain as the profile manager.  The problem is two separate profiles remain due to the fact that they are also listed on each profile as a sibling of the other one. I attempted to remove them as a sibling through Edit and could not do it. This is where I need the help. Julia
Once the merge is completed (currently it is still pending), the sibling issue should be resolved.
Merging is a two step process and you have requested a merge (step 1)  completing the merge is still pending and there will be only one profile after the merge is finished.
Merging the two profiles is not the issue.  The problem is that each of the profiles merged, the sibling of one Whitcomb-1922 is Whitcomb-2015 and vice versa.  When I attempted to remove the parent who is listed as a sibling to the other, I could not do it through edit? Julia
Julia, you don't need to.  When the merge is completed, there will be only one profile, so there won't be a second one to disconnect from the parents.  If the other profile manager doesn't click on the merge to complete it, all you have to do is wait until 30 days after you proposed the merge; when the automatic approval goes through, you can complete the merge yourself.
I guess I am not making myself clear. The problem is Whitcomb-1922 is showing up on Whitcomb-2015 as his sibling.  Whitcomb-2015 is actually the same as Whitcomb-1922 and not his sibling, they were the profiles that merged.  The same is occurring on Whitcomb-1922 where Whitcomb-2015 is listed as Whitcomb-1922's sibling.  Therefore because they are listed as siblings, they are showing as actual profiles. I need to know how to remove a sibling from a profile.  The edit function seems to only allow the removal of a child? Juila

Julia, what Patricia, Melanie and Nan are saying is that the merge of Whitcomb-1922 and Whitcomb-2015 has not yet been completed, which is why at the moment they are still showing as siblings.

You can see the merge status at https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:BrowseMatches&type=pending&order=dateup&canAct=0&s=Whitcomb - it says "Approval from Julia Stockwell for Whitcomb-2015 has been recorded." but "Someone from Whitcomb-1922's Trusted List needs to approve". That is not just a case of the other profile manager telling you he approves, he actually needs to click on the button in the Pending Merges section of the profile to tell the system that he agrees to the merge.

Hello everyone who answered my post, thank you.  It took me awhile to go through all the help menus and instructions, but with persistence I found the correct instructions.  The edit page allows you to delete fathers, mothers, spouses, children, but not siblings. Somehow there should be a note on the "Edit" page indicating this fact. In order to do that, one must delete the father and/or parents and it will remove the sibling and all siblings from one of the profiles and therefore, correcting the other profile's siblings. I took a big leap of faith that doing this would not eliminate my profile and information. Somehow it did merge previously, since it merged the auDNA,  Sent email to other profile manager to attempt merge again with siblings corrected. Julia
Julia, the merge was already proposed by you on July 28.  There is no need to "attempt merge again."  Either the other PM will complete the existing merge; or, anyone can complete it after 30 days when it goes to automatic approval.

Hi Julia,

The problem with the merge is not that they are already siblings.  That is exactly what merging is meant to resolve, and I have done it.

My guess is the other profile manager has to actually do something, not just give you a verbal (written) agreement.
