19th Century Gouverneur Wesleyan Seminary St. Lawrence County, New York

Question

It appears William and his family were a part of this community. Their daughter Mary attended school at Gouverneur Wesleyan Seminary per her obituary. I’d like to get William connected and collaborate in his genealogy and how the seminary played a role in the family. Does he have an obit?

His gravestone clearly states “In His 48th Yr.” The bio has 18th year a typo most likely that needs correcting. The memorial is his

Enlarging I see 18 (heavy 1) but with a very faint outline of what could look like a 4, could just be the photo - the FindAGrave profile maker and photo taker for William are the same person she would have seen the stone in person.  

I have some people in my tree from this general area but none with this surname.  Article refers to him as a student about 2 years before death so if it is the same person would infer a younger person.  Probate does refer to those named minors, no widow, appoints surrogate - no one shows at later probate date. Might be younger siblings/family members that he was responsible for.

Nice source for Mary!  A younger William is a great find if Mary was one of seven children there was a lot going on there to find.  I find myself searching for graves in the NY's North Country cemeteries and lines fairly often, I'll keep a look out for anything more.
