I would agree. There are a couple of extra papers in the main link that mention his name again, and it's tough to tell if those last two characters are "T", "E", or even "L". I'll have to try several variants to see if someone in the general vicinity of Butler County shows up on a Census around that time. The unfortunate timing of this happening around 1880, potentially right after the Census, and no entries until 1900 means that the youngest children could have had their last names changed by their foster/adopters or even the young girl may have married, so it can get a bit challenging, but at least I have clue to follow.
