I added Robert Cherry (Cherry-1348) as the father of Col. John Cherry (Cherry-1875).  Col. John Cherry is cited as the father of David Cherry (Cherry-472).  Col. John Cherry did have a son named David Cherry. David Cherry was the father of William Pinkney Cherry.  The connections appear to be valid.
Also, the 1776-1866 deed index for Chester County (where Co. John Cherry died), SC, only records 4 deeds for a David Cherry.  The last deed, in Book BB, page 394, was dated September 1839, for the sale of 197 acres of land from David Cherry to Jamison Cherry (brothers?).  Col. John Cherry had sons named David and Jamison.  Since William Pinkney Cherry was born in Texas in 1840 to David Cherry, here is supporting evidence.  This will be added to David Cherry's profile.
I found a marraige of William Pinkney Cherry to Olivia E Wright on 21 June 1863 and then the marraige of W.G. Cherry to L.C. Boone on 25 Jan 1870.
Nice work James and Tabatha! Thanks!!
Additional research indicates that David Cherry (1801-1870) migrated to San Augustine County, Texas in 1835.  When he settled there, there were six individuals in his family.  Also, David Cherry of Texas was not a son of Col. John Cherry (died in 1832) of Chester County, South Carolina.  Col. John Cherry's son, David, was living in Richland County, South Carolina, in April 1839, according to a Chester County land deed.  David Cherry was living in San Augustine County, Republic of Texas, in 1838.  Should the connection to Col. John Cherry be removed?
I was also looking at this a couple of days ago cant remember now who I had as Father but seemed to remember a possible Uncle John V Cherry I discounted due to everyone going with the 'other' David.
David Cherry was in Jackson County, FL, in 1830.  The household included his wife, a child (daughter under 5), and a female (60-70) apparent mother.  He lived next to William Carpenter, apparently a brother of his wife, Susannah (Carpenter) Cherry.  A female 60-70 apparent mother of Susannah, was in the household of William Carpenter.  There was a Jacob Cherry who died about 1823 in Kershaw County, South Carolina, who had a son named David Cherry.  Some websites do link David Cherry (1801-1870) to this Jacob Cherry, but proof is lacking.
James, were these lines corrected? Or, does there still need to be work done on them?
No connection has been made. The bounty is returned to you.  I do not think that Col. John Cherry was the father of David Cherry (1801-1879). This incorrect connection needs to be removed.  I did leave a research note for explanation.  I will remove the connection, unless you want to do it.

On the plus side, I added information about David Cherry in Florida and Texas (his arrival in texas in 1835!).

Unless someone else finds a connection, it looks like the end of the line.
Has a will for the Jacob been looked for? If David isn't mentioned then that link can be disproven too?

John V Cherry This guy is also linked to a Jacob I adopted a few days ago on here Wikitree profile but not done much with due to the other connection seem to be accepted. Supposedly he was also a Colonel - and translator for Sam Houston (I will need to check the interview with Cheryl but I was sure she mentioned Sam)

Jacob Cherry of Kershaw District, South Carolina, died in 1823 (Will book K, page 4, recorded December 15, 1823).  Wife was named Sarah.  Children were Jacob, David, Elizabeth, and Mary.  One of the daughters married ? Pearce.

NO John V Cherry as a son.  John V Cherry must be related to someone else.  Also, there is no proof that Jacob Cherry's son, David, was David Cherry (1801-1870) of Texas.

This line has a mix up here. She has been confused with Louisa Catherine Boone b 16 March 1856 d 13 Apr 1942 (Find a Grave)

What can I do about this?

EDIT: After Discord chat, I am going to attempt to split the two.

Carla
connected through Nancy Adeline Skelton, Wife of Layfette Boone her Father William was already on Wikitree along with siblings
Umm they didn't marry until 1864
Thanks for your work on this Carla and Heather. The available records will need close scrutiny to make sure we have the connections accurate.

There is also a Robert Edward Cherry born circa 1893 living in Polk, Texas, so that marriage might not be for the same Robert Edward Cherry :(

James' uncle's wife's father William Marion Streater was added in 2014. I connected the profiles.

Yay Karen! Great work, and nice profiles!!

All new conversations will be about the Foley & Scantlen families, now that the correction has been made.

Grandparents seem to be identified on many sites through christening records. Added them as research notes for now. If no objections, can add them as profiles, but will give them a little time if someone wants to review.
Just a thought, but maybe we should hide the less relevant responses on the pruned branches on the challenges on the G2G, and edit the original so that it points to the line that took its place, so that the team can then switch gears to another branch, or pick up the new one that emerged. Not sure if all that is necessary, but I was side-tracked for a day until I realized that my branch had been snipped.
Done, Scott. All new conversations will be about the Foley & Scantlen families.
Much nicer! Thank you! Although I must say, this one has had some very interesting twists and turns to be certain!
I agree, it has been an interesting line!

Congrats on getting first bounty, Lukas!!
watson-8439 who married Peter Vandeventer is listed as born in Ohio 1700's and that is just not possible.
Elizabeth Watson possibly could have been born in Ohio if she was born a few years later than the stated birth year of 1783. The profile gives no clues as the source of the birth date and birthplace. The earliest source for her is a record of marriage.
The 1850 census record shows that Elizabeth Watson was born in Maryland, so I removed the unsourced claim of birth in Ohio.
Thanks Ellen and Lukas!
Hi folks, I've added Julia Ethel Vandeventer as one of the children of William Tolbert Vandeventer and Missouri Isabel Duff. I'm planning to add the spouse John Henry Metz soon.

Hi folks, I was able to add John Henry Metz as the spouse of Julia Ethel Vandeventer.

This connection was made when she was attached to her father Duff-3818
I connected to existing Parents (Thomas Duff and Sarah Hull) BUT the daughter Mary does not marry Isaac Streepy that is Mary Reynolds but I then connected Ann Bell Duff which is on the global tree. And Charles William Streepy is the son on Abner McDonald Streepy.( I believe) not Isaac Streepy
Can the narrative in the Research Notes be moved to the bio? Or, is this being further investigated first?

I think that I may have been break a brick wall for Ida Mae Tipton's parents.  Her father's name may be William  Tipton-2706 and her mother's name may be Alice Rourke-689 because, the census 1900, shows that Ida was born in Jan 1894 which matched her date of birth in her profile and also her birthplace.  David Tipton's daughter, Ida, was born in September 1895 and her birthplace is Chikaskia, Sumner, Kansas. so which one is the correct parent? Further research is needed.

I'm currently looking at the David Tipton lineage, and I saw more information for David Tipton's great-great grandmother Eleanor Bryant has an Ancestry profile with more information on her birth parents. Would it be ok if I comment the link to her Ancestry profile here for anyone to look at?

Yes, that would be fine Maxx. You can also add the link to his Research Notes
yes, but we don't all have Ancestry so why don't you try to fill it in, but verify each link  with two primary sources if possible; trees are not acceptable. They are only clues.

Judy
I updated the birth dates for Eleanor Bryant (Bryant-7099).

I got the info from Family Search and Ancestry.
Thanks Maxx!

I have only found the works of C.J. Cherryh about a year ago, and have been tracking them down, first through local libraries, then through Thriftbooks. What wonderful journeys I have had!

CJ CHERRYH!!! Add me plz!

I'm almost passing out with excitement, I love her books so much. Didn't know until today that she was also a genealogist! *swoon*
by Shirley Runyon G2G2 (2.3k points)
I'm glad you are excited, Shirley, so am I!! And she is tickled that some of her fans will be working on the research. I didn't know she was an amateur genealogist until recently either. She is looking forward to seeing how much of her research we can validate, as well as the new stories that we find.
