Did Maurice Francis O'Connell have a child?

I am tracing my family tree. My grandmother, Kathleen Mary O'Connell is listed as born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1910. The family story goes that her mother died in childbirth but that her father was Maurice Francis Donal Benedict O'Connell (1874-1918) son for Daniel O'Connell Jr and Mary Ellen Foster.

However from my research (limited as it is) I cannot find if  Maurice was married (though family story is my Gran was an illegitimate child) and I am trying to find evidence to tie Kathleen to Maurice.

Any history on Maurice and his life would be great.

Have you tried to find her birth certificate through the government department in Cape Town or her marriage certificate or death certificate?
