Paternal Haplogroup Appears on Female 23andMe Relative’s Profile?

Hi there.

I just went to ask a question in the 23andMe Forums - and found they sadly closed late last year.

But I have a WikiTree profile - and hope I can ask here.

If a female DNA Relative has a Paternal Haplogroup showing on their 23&Me profile - Is this because 1. It’s an error? 2. They have the facility to manually add this, if they know what their fathers haplogroup is? or 3. They were originally born with male DNA & this is why it’s showing?

I don’t wish to cause any offence by asking this, I’m just confused why this sometimes appears.

Many thanks

Simon

If the father or brother has had a 23andme test, it may shown then. It did this for my daughter.

Mine appears as J-M92 because my brother also tested at 23andme.
