What does "Hanner" or "Hannes" mean in a list of names?

I'm looking at a pay roll from the Revolutionary War, from Belinger's Regiment of the Tryon County Militia in the Mohawk Valley, written in German.  Several of the names on the list have "Hanner" or "Hannes" written in place of the first name.  Can anyone explain what that means?

For bonus points, provide an English translation of this notation at the top of the list:

Hannes is a variant form (you could call it a "nickname") of Johannes.

If you provide a link to the list you are looking at, it would be easier for other members to explain the rest of the text. Your "bonus points" text appears to say something to the effect of "A list of those I couldn't put on the big list," but a more sensible translation might be possible after seeing the handwriting and the context.

Thanks, here's the source information.  It's image 43 of the group:

The URL is https://www.fold3.com/image/9977678, but I think you'll need a fold3 account to see it.  I also have it in a pdf file, but I think there might be copyright problems if I tried to post that here.

I checked the names against other lists in the same source, and at least four of the five names with "Hannes" appear elsewhere as "John".  I believe that one that looks like "Hanner" is just poor handwriting.  So Hannes is a nickname for Johannes, the German form of John, just as you said.

Thanks for the help.

Another variation used in the Mohawk Valley is Hon.  Hon Yery, Hon Jost are used in period documents.

Whoa! I just tried to access a link to Three Rivers, a long treasured Mohawk Valley resource, and got a message that the domain name has expired.  What a loss!
It looks like the Wayback Machine has much (most?) of the site archived.  Still very sad, but not a total loss.
