Everard Digges-La Touche, at 32 years of age was a Reverend Doctor and a lecturer at Moore Theological College, Sydney.  Deciding to serve in the AIF, but not as a Chaplain, Everard was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and posted to the 2nd Australian Infantry Battalion.  He entered the trenches at Gallipoli on 6th August 1915, totally unaware what was being planned for that evening.  He was mortally wounded in that Battle of Lone Pine, succumbing to his wounds 12 hours later.  His younger brother, Averill Digges-La Touche, was a Lieutenant in the 5th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles and was killed in action at Ypres, Flanders just seven weeks later. Lest we Forget.
