Here is the history of the area from 1807 with the names of the Hicks and Newsomes however no mention of Newsome Hicks.  Might he have gone by another name?  or perhaps if you search some of these names they will give you their descendants which may be newsome?https://archive.org/stream/historyofjonesco00will/historyofjonesco00will_djvu.txt

Thank you so much for the information and the name I thought the same it's just an odd name for a first name
Good luck, you may find that his mother's maiden name was Newsome?  But I thought that once and it turned out to be that someone had given the mother $5 to name their child after them.

It may be hard to find parents without their will, probate records, naming Newsome.

Didn't see a profile so I am posting what little I found on a Newsom Hicks/Hix

Hix (Hicks) In 1828 and 1836, Newsom Hix patented land South of Mount Andrew. In 1836 Elizabeth Hix also patented land in that vicinity. There is a grave in Corinth Baptist Cemetery of Elizabeth Allen Hicks, wife of R.J. Hicks, daughter of Bazel and Elizabeth Graves. The only date given is 13 April 1829, and there is no indication whether it is a birth or death date. If it is a death, the marker must have been placed many years later.( Memorial as a DOD, but headstone doesn't look right to me. Maybe generated or added later.
