Frank, yes, that's him. I have one marriage certificate listing Ralph's father as W H Hicks, and death certificates listing him as John Hicks. The mother Penelope, is listed as married with the last name Hicks in 1860, but was not living with the father in the census. I've been looking for about a year, and have pretty much exhausted everywhere I know to look.
