I have several questions about the use of the Conflated template and older incorrect sources entered by another user.
I have an ancestor [[Hill-48674|Calvin Hill (abt.1788-1864)]] who has been conflated with another of the same name [[Hill-2577|Calvin Hill (1792-)]]. I adopted the profile that is not my ancestor and used the conflated template while I sorted things out. I attached a PDF with my research notes while I did all the sorting and bio updating. They are mostly sorted now.
My questions are:
- There are older sources on the adopted profile that do not apply to that individual, but to my ancestor. I separated them with a note stating that, but is it OK to remove them? If they remain there, it seems to contribute to the conflation.
- Do I remove the conflated template even though at least one of the sources one each profile have a mixture of correct and incorrect info? Should I remove that source or just leave a note stating the source contributed to conflation with old incorrect info?
- Now that I have sorted out the profiles, should I remove the PDF that I attached with my research notes? I arranged the facts side by side to show the differences between the two men, but the profiles are clear now with a link to the other one each profile.
I appreciate any guidance more experienced folks can provide. Thank you!
