What can we do about this group of unknowns?

Hello,

There is a trail of Unknown Unknown's. I am wondering what the best way to tackle this would be. It starts in 1678 England but none of the others have any dates, or names, or places.

Since it is owned, we would start by messaging the profile owner and asking them to update the profile to provide information. It appears there is INTENDED information.

If that isn't successful, then we would follow this, as stated on the help page: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Unresponsive_Profile_Managers

At that point, you would email Wikitree, explain the situation, and the higher ups at Wikitree would decide what to do with said profiles (likely deletion).

Yes, the PM is still active.  We should ask why he removed all the names, for starters.

He doesn't answer my messages, but I asked a leader to help him. Apparently he discovered they were not his relatives. I traced it back to a confusion between 2 Marriott cousins which I have straightened out now.

He orphaned about 10 profiles and I was able to change those surnames from unknown. But there are still about another 10 profiles that need to be changed away from unknown, where I have added the correct surnames in the "current or other" fields, awaiting correction to unknown LNAB.

Apparently his wife was born a Betterly. The PM there says he doesn't need the profile any more. But since we can't delete profiles, if you want to fix these unknowns, you should probably try to find some sources and first names that match the profiles. You would have to contact the PMs to get the surnames changed from unknown to whatever your research turns up.
