It looks as if someone has already stopped by to help the profile in question, but a few pointers:

  1. The sources themselves are mostly adequate enough to identify where information came from so someone else could find the record / information. You could improve a few of the citations, but that would probably be nitpicking.

    Just remember that when adding sources, you want to give as much information as possible so someone else can identify and find the source. If there is a link available, please provide that! Even if the links stops working in the future, that gives us a great head start on where you found that information. For example, the following citation is not very specific. Did this come from a Birth Record, Church Record, Death Record...?

    "Birth date: abt 1830 Birth place: Ohio Residence date: 1880 Residence place: Staunton, Miami, Ohio, United States."

    If you are using a site like FamilySearch, they provide a citation for you that you can copy/paste.

  2. When adding <ref></ref> tags to a profile, these are meant for inline citations. For example, under the Biography section I may write:

    Steve was born in Texas.<ref>Source-Citation-Here</ref>

    When you save the profile, the inline source will then show as a hyperlink which leads you to the exact citation under Sources section. As an example, view the profile of my 2x great-grandmother, Mary (Kañák) Peters. You can see the inline sources and how they display on the profile. Since this is an open profile, feel free to click on "Edit" mode to the how the code is used on the profile.

  3. Instead of inline sources, you can also embed the sources as a list under the Sources and <references /> line. I believe this is what you had intended to do, but had instead used the <ref></ref> tags which caused a 'broken' display originally. But to do a simple list of citations, you would use the following method:

    == Sources ==
    <references />
