Advice before editing this pre-1700 Fricker profile?

I have information to contribute to the profile of Jeremiah Fricker. This is what I can add:

  • Rebecca - wife
  • Jeremiah - son
  • Jonathan - father
  • Eleanor - mother

These are the sources I am using:

  • Wiltshire, England, Church of England Parish registers 1654-1743, Wingfield.
  • Parallel Ancestry family tree of 2nd cousin David Hainsworth, grandson of Millicent M. Fricker.

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

It is best, when listing a source for information, to link to the source of that information - that is, perhaps a link to the Wiltshire register, so that people here will be better able to access it.

The family tree is not acceptable as a source for profiles of this time, but it can be useful to check with other sources for accuracy.
Thanks Lois!  That's really helpful; the Wiltshire parish registers are the main source of information at this time.  I won't create a profile without sourcing one and cross-referencing with another record.  Baby steps!
I'm sure people would be able to find the records in the register, but it makes it simpler and less time-consuming if a link is supplied at the outset.

Hi Jacqueline,

May I suggest that joining the England Project and doing the Orphan Trail would be a good idea if you are doing English profiles. You would be assigned a Trailblazer to guide you through how to find and add records with proper inline citations.

Please contact me if you want more details.

Regards,

Ann
