Saint Helena island

Question

Hi,

I am trying to find a copy of my mother and fathers birth certificate they were bothe born in Western Cape.  I am also trying to find my grandmothers parents that were living in saint Helena when she was born, I have their names on her baptism certificate.  The three names I am searching for is Harwood, Cumming and Sawyer, especially Elizabeth Susan Sawyer Born 1866 in Jametown, Saint Helena to John and Margaret Sawyer

Please could anyone suggest where I could try

Your in luck I am in the USA but I just got help from Heather MacAlister in Cape Town South Africa she got the documents I need and the service was fabulous and reasonably priced. Email her and let her know what you looking for she will tell you if she's able to find it and get the info. Let me know how it goes

St Helena is a British Overseas Territory with no direct connection to South Africa. They have a local government of elected representatives under the Governor. They did lose the right to British nationality for a period but that has since been reinstated so there are two possible sources of information:

The Administration of St Helena may be able to help, otherwise it will be the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in Whitehall, London, SW1
