WikiTree Plus question [closed]

I've read the Help page for WikiTree Plus, and I can't find what I'm looking for.

There is a way to search for ancestors by typing in a specific WikiTree ID and seeing all their predecessors.  I want the opposite.

Is there a way to find any profile without ancestors?  For instance, I want to find all Michaud profiles that aren't linked to parents.  Is there a way set up to do that?

Thanks for your help.

Thank you both for your help.  At least I know I wasn't missing something.  Perhaps one day, when Ales has absolutely nothing else to do...

No you can't search for missing parents.

But Karen, since you asked for it, I made it possible.

Here are new magic keywords to make it possible.

  • noparents: Limits results to profiles, that have no parents.
  • nofather: Limits results to profiles, that have no father.
  • nomother: Limits results to profiles, that have no mother.
  • nochildren: Limits results to profiles, that have no children.
  • nospouses: Limits results to profiles, that have no spouses.
or just by last name

Thank you so much, Ales.  Now I've got to get busy!!!
Your work, to make our tree more accessible, is greatly appreciated.

I don't believe there is a search to find "no ancestors", but there is a search for "unlinked" (Limits results to profiles, that are not connected to any other profile).

I saw that one too Steve, but thought that would only work if they weren't linked to anything else (no spouse, no kids). There's also an Unconnected one, but what if they're connected through a child to the public tree? Tricky question.

If you are specifically looking for Michaud profiles *who are your ancestors* then you could use the Brick Wall application. Other than that, I think you are correct. Maybe add an Ales tag to this, although he'll probably see it.

Maybe he can add an EKA=WikitreeID magic combo, so you could find your brick walls that way?
