Does anyone know of the kirby family in aston birmingham uk . My grandad was james kirby, who owned barges on the annual, and my dad was harold milton kirby, he had a sister called Doris kirby. Their mum was Elizabeth kirby. They lived in ladywood aston, 1920s, my dad was born in bradford. My grate grandad was Thomas kirby, a safe maker. This is all I know.

I do not know if this will help you Jackie, my grandfather's wife was a Kirby; her father Michael James Kirby was born 1836 in Mayo in Ireland and came to England when he was 12 years old and eventually settled in Whitby in East Yorkshire where he married a woman who was born in Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire.
