Advice before editing this pre-1700 Carter profile?

I have information to contribute to the profile of John Carter. This is what I can add:

  • Birth , Marriage ,Death locations dates etc

These are the sources I am using:

  • Familysearch/ Rootssearch.

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Could you be more specific about what type of sources you are using from Familysearch/Rootssearch?

For pre-1700 profiles in particular, not all sources are considered as good sources. Original records are preferred. Family trees are not accepted.
Hi regarding the email that you replied to my question. On Familysearch/ Rootssearch i am using Birth, Christening , Marriage and Death records and anything else that is relevant.
They sound like good sources. If you want people to look at them and see if they're really about your person, or just give their opinion on the information, I would suggest you edit your original post and add the specific source information (like you would for a source citation). Also, as a tip, add england as a tag to draw the attention of people who are know more about that locality, so they can weigh in.

Good luck in your research!

I realize this is off-topic, but if you are interested in your pre-1700 Carter ancestry, you should consider taking a Y DNA test at FTDNA and join the Carter surname project.
