Can anyone help to identify a man believed to be a Canadian doctor called Croft, in England in 1919.

We know that he must have been in England in 1919 because his son, Lawrence, was born on 19 January 1920 and his birth registered in the Luton district in England. The photograph we have of him bears a strong resemblance to Lawrence so there is a high degree of confidence that he really was Lawrence's father. Sadly, the only information passed down from Lawrence's mother is that his name was Croft and he was a Canadian doctor.

It is possible that he was a member of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps and was stationed at one of their hospitals near London.

I have searched through the online records of Canadian servicemen called Croft, who served during WW1, but none of them appeared to be a match.

"Dr. Lawrence Victor Croft , of London , Ont . , died on May 19 , 1941. He was born in 1877 , the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Croft."

Found in Canadian Medical Association Journal, Vol. 45, 1941, p. 90. Google eBooks snippet view

Graduated from McGill Faculty of Medicine. (The Canadian Practitioner, 1903, p. 393.)

BUT I can't find him on any passenger lists or WWI lists and your photo is of a man in uniform. :(
