New member introducing myself

Question

I am looking for help with Edwin Lafayette McCullough who was born about 1826/1827 in Tompkins county New York.  About 1847, location unknown, to Elizabeth Wilhelm daughter of Jacob Wilhelm and Elizabeth Swick. (her last name was found on tree in Familysearch.org we thought it was Williams)  She was born May 20, 1826 in Steuben county New York.  I haven't found any information on them before the 1860 census where they are listed as Edward McCullan with their 3 daughters Mary Elizabeth b 12/23/1848 in Schuyler county New York, Caroline Loraine born in Sept 1850 she died 01/09/1861 in Elmira, Chemung NY and daughter Alice A. born 08/25/1852 in Bath, Steuben, New York.  

1865 census they are in Bath Steuben, New York as E.L. McCullough.  They then moved to Baraboo, Sauk, Wisconsin where they died.

Any assistance on Edwin before 1860 and possible parents appreciated.
