Dear all,

I suggest that we are merging the two following persons as they are describing the same person:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Abrahamsdotter_Burman-1

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Burman-41

Please advise how to proceed.

Didn't families from this era use patronymics? Wouldn't she be Christina Abrahamsdotter ?

Families of the common folk used patronymics.

This famly is of the clergy, where at least some families used inheritable family names at this time.

Maggie Andersson has worked on straightening out some of Bureätten - there are, naturally, a lot of unsourced and messy profiles imported in the early days.

Perhaps, Per, since you are interested, you could explore the connections in the family of Christina and improve their sources.

Thanks a lot for the interest of this topic; I appreciate it.

I agree with Eva that in Sweden during that time there where different name rules for commoners, clergy and nobility etc.

Eva I will be delighted to sort it out in a tidy manner, with references to thrustworthy Swedish legal and academic documents etc.

I continue to learn something new every day. Thanks for the Swedish genealogy lesson, Eva!
And please, do not add patronymics to the middle name field but instead add them as "other last names".

If Abrahamsdotter is added to the middle name field, and you do a search for First Name: Christina and Last Name: Abrahamsdotter she will not be found by WT search since it regards Middle Name: Abrahamsdotter to be equal to a First Name.

Try it for yourself and see how many First Name: Abrahamsdotter there is that will never be found when searching for them with Last Name: Abrahamsdotter (or any other patronymic, which in some cases are what we know of, if we are not sure if a family name was used).

Thanks a lot Maggie smiley

I will keep it in the mind

To merge them you need to have sources to prove the LNAB. Burman or Abrahamsdotter or more unlikely Abrahamsdotter Burman.

I suggest you edit the question to add tag for Sweden.
