https://vitter.org/familytree/getperson.php?personID=I34295&tree=vittertree1 This site indicates that Richard was born in 1725 and died in 1763 in St Brides, Norfolk, Virginia https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Whitehurst-263 supposedly the same Richard Whiehurst, but born in 1673 and died in 1765, in Norfolk county https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Whitehurst-250 supposedly the same Richard, but born in 1659 and died in 1691 IF these profiles all represent the son of James Whitehurst and Sarah (Goldsmith) Whitehurst, they need to be merged into one profile, perhaps this one??

Other than reliable sources, there are problems with dates on children profiles.

  1. Mother born in 1655 and marriage in 1671, which is a problem for 1st Richard and William.
  2. Mothers death date is listed as 1719 with last Richard born after that date
  3. Mothers death date is listed as 1719 but probate was done 1692, which is a problem for last Samuel and Richard.
  4. There are 3 Richard, 2 Samuel, 2 James.

Sources are needed to determine if there are multiple families that have been conflated.

Richard born in 1725 is a different generation probably from that family.

Richard born 1659 could be a brother of James, the father of this family.

Richard born 1673 would fit into this family.

Yes, it appears as if Sarah Goldsmith, born 1635 in Lower Norfolk county, Virginia (became Princess Anne County) and Sarah Gouldsmith who was born May 17, 1655, in Warbleton, Sussex, England, a daughter of William Gouldsmith were merged September 18, 2014 (Merged Goldsmith-631 into Goldsmith-309)

i have on my possession Princess Anne County Virginia  Land and Probate Records

Abstracts from Deed Books One  to Eighteen

1691-1783

In the book, James Whitehurst bd 1639 was made excutor of William Goldsmith;s will and named him son-in law.  Sarah was his daughter.  P,138-139
My mistake.  The book us from Brief Abstract of Lower Norfolk County and Norfolk County Wills.  by Charles Fleming McIntosh.  The notation is from Book 5  f.175 dated 4 Mch 1691/2 proved  May 17 16931691/2 t=
This family could benefit from any sourcing they can get.  I appreciate any help in resolving this mixup.  Too bad we cannot "unmerge" the mother of these children.
