Can we manually add profiles to our Watchlist?

This question was recently asked by another member and closed as "unclear". I thought it was quite clear, but I will clarify.

It would be convenient to manually edit my watchlist to add profiles that I want to follow, so I can receive notification of changes to them. Currently, this can only be done by requesting to be on the Trusted List of the profile by the PM. If there is a PM, if the PM is active, if the PM responds.

This is a cumbersome process, and IMO unnecessary if all I want to do is receive notifications. I receive zillions of notifications about profiles in which I have no interest at all, because adding a name tag feeds me every change to every profile with that name. I would rather choose the individual profiles that I am notified of by adding them to my watchlist. That, after all, is the meaning of the term "watchlist".

I get to remove profiles individually from my watchlist, but I can't add them.

So the proposal is simple: Allow editing of a member's watchlist to add additional individual profiles.

It doesn't look likely that this will happen, as the proposal is currently sitting in the "Not Planned" category in the Suggestion/To-Do list. Chris has written a comment there about why it is not planned - see https://trello.com/c/uFTuuO80/12-separate-the-trusted-list-from-the-watchlist. At least they are also tracking all the times it has been requested, so it hasn't just disappeared altogether. (I'm just linking to the relevant information not saying I personally think it's a bad idea - please don't shoot the messenger!)

Thank you Paul, for that link.  Looks like they could add today's date as another request.  I found one of the old ones and had already posted to ask Abby the update.  If she is following this, no need to reply.

Watchlist=Trusted List. And that's why you have to get permission to be on it.  Perhaps these need to be disconnected so that watchlist could be just that.

It definitely should be disconnected. Trusted list is about editing profiles and seeing private information, not notifications. The two are quite different in application.

Have you researched if this has been discussed in G2G before?  You might want to make a proposal to disconnect these two concepts.
