The Scotland Project is hard at work improving profiles for our Scottish Ancestors and we would love you to join us!  The Project covers all things Scottish, so no matter what you interests are, there's a team waiting for you!

You'll begin with a journey down our new Tartan Trail (you can learn more about it here) where you'll not only improve and/or learn new skills, but will also meet new people and learn to work within an active, collaborative WikiTree community.  Once you've completed the Tartan Trail, you'll be invited to join other teams within the project that interest you.

Membership Information

If you are new to WikieTree and have not become a full member you will need to upgrade to Wiki Genealogist Level and sign our Honor Code to receive your wiki genealogist badge, which is a necessity for editing profiles.  Full details can also be found on the Scotland Project  home page.  This will also give you a time line of what to expect from the Tartan Trail

Hello! My DNA suggests 26% Scottish, and I have ancestors who I would like to learn more about: e.g. Fletcher, Gunn, Roxburgh.

Thank you!

I don't seem to be a member of the project. So I'd like to join.

I'm obviously a Clan Donald person (by DNA a direct all-male line descendant of Somerled, still looking for paper) and in fact the admin of the Clan Donald DNA Project. Advertisement: if you're a Clan Donald name we note that we welcome you even if you are not a paid Clan mamber ...  we're free.

I have paper trails across the sea directly to Clan Rose and Clan Grant, and through them to Clan Donald. My line in Scotland back from them is already in quite excellent shape  on Wikitree.

Hello, I am interested in joining the Scotland Project. I appear to connect to the Stewarts through my paternal Kennedy line,  and through my maternal Cunningham (Sterrett, Paxton, Walker, McClung, Stewart and also Paxton, Blair, Campbell, Drummond) lines.

Thank you,

I am a descendant of Daniel McClard, who came to the US many years ago from Scotland, via Ulster. I would like to research further where he may have come from.

This is the information, I have on my Scottish Family.

Edward Ford

Christening Sept 21, 1794
Old Machar Par
Aberdeen, Scotland
Marriage March 28, 1818
Dyce Parish, Aberdeen Scotland
Wife
Isobel Gill. ( Father George Gill b 1750)
christening July 19, 1797, Dyce Parish
Aberdeen, Scotland.
Child
Edward Ford
Feb 1, 1820
Bent, Newhills Parish
Aberdeen Scotland.
Wife
Elizabeth Barnet
May 17, 1821
Kilspinde, Perth Scotland.
These both immigrated to Canada, as they died there and had their children in Ontario.
I have information of the Canadian stuff, but am trying to learn about the Scottish.
Some family have said that we are related to Lady Elizabeth Isabel Stewart ( Countess of Argyll) and Sir Archibald Gillespie Campbell, ( who died at the battle of Fladden Sept 9, 1513.)
So I am trying to find out.
Thanks for the help.

Hi Veronica

I have sent you the joining information for the project and I am awaiting you reply by email.  As to the above question if you go to the top of this page on the right hand side you will see a link for Genealogy Help.  This is the best place for this question to be ask.  Just add the Scotland Tag and someone will pick it up.  This G2G is just for joining

I was a member of the previous Scotland Project and Scottish Clans Project and still try to contribute in those areas when I can. Pre-1700 registered and have acted as a consultant on pre-1500 Scottish profiles.

Looking forward to participate on the Twisted Thistles Source-A-Thon team.

Thanks Jackie. I have received the information and replied to you privately.
I have just realised that that the original question as to whether I wanted to remain was asked by a coordinator of what is  now the England project. I replied to her, so I guess that is maybe why my previous Scotland membership fell through the cracks.
